Pilates with a physio can transform your body and wellbeing

Pilates is a gentle but highly effective exercise system that helps:

  • Build core strength and endurance – target your abdominal, spinal, and pelvic floor muscles for improved stability and control.

  • Enhance flexibility and posture – increase muscle tone, control and endurance, especially of the 'core'.

  • Relieve pain and tension – ease discomfort in your lower back, spine, neck, shoulders, hips and knees.

  • Support postnatal recovery – strengthen pelvic floor after birth.

  • Improve balance and reduce stiffness – feel more agile and steady, plus help reduce pain and weakness from osteoarthritis.

  • Manage stress – promote relaxation and reduce physical and emotional tension.

  • Aid in rehabilitation after injuries or workplace accidents.

  • Boost overall vitality – improve fitness, energy and general wellbeing (source).

Frequently asked questions

  • At our Prospect studio, we offer a range of Pilates classes designed to suit different experience levels, goals and rehabilitation needs. These includes mat Pilates, floor Pilates, core strength and high intensity, always led by a qualified physiotherapist.

Our classes focus on improving strength, flexibility, posture and movement control, with options available for beginners, those returning from injury and more experienced clients looking to build strength and stability.

  • We have a strong focus on clinical care and individualised support. Our classes are guided by qualified physiotherapists, meaning your program is informed by evidence-based practice and tailored to your body — making our Prospect Pilates studio ideal for those managing pain, recovering from injury or wanting expert guidance.

  • In some cases, especially if you’re managing pain or recovering from injury, we may recommend an initial assessment. This allows us to tailor your program and ensure you get the safest and most effective results from your Pilates sessions.

But in most cases, no, you wouldn’t need to book a physio appointment beforehand.

  • Our 50-minute Pilates classes are $25 for a casual drop-in session, or you can purchase an 8-session pack for $120 (a $20 saving).

  • In many cases, yes. Because our Pilates classes are led by a registered physiotherapist, they may be eligible for private health fund rebates under extras cover.

Whether you choose to claim will depend on your individual policy and how you prefer to use your benefits — some clients use their cover for hands-on treatment, while others choose to put it towards their Pilates sessions or rehabilitation program.

We recommend checking with your health fund for specific details, and our team is always happy to provide guidance.

  • Yes! Pilates is widely recognised as an effective way to manage and reduce back pain. It focuses on strengthening the deep core muscles that support your spine, improving posture and encouraging better movement patterns.

Because our classes are guided by a physio, we can tailor exercises to your specific condition, helping you move safely and build strength over time.

  • We recommend wearing comfortable, fitted activewear that allows you to move freely. Clothes that aren’t too loose help your instructor see your alignment and ensure you’re performing exercises correctly.
